Urine problems of rabbits can be solved

Many rabbit owners are found to find fault with their pets’ frequent urinations. What do they forget is that this is intrinsic for them and is a part of their nature. In short, rabbits are very clean animals but they do pee at regular intervals. Well, if you get irritated so early, you are not a good owner and shouldn’t have accepted a rabbit as a pet. However this can be trained as well and according to studies, potty training of rabbits can be done and the owner happens to be the best trainer.

Now tell me one thing. What are your rabbit’s preferences? If it prefers to live indoors, you have to do the cleaning regularly. Nevertheless, if it lives in a cage outdoors, it is beneficial for you. In that case regular cleaning of the litter box of your rabbit is enough. Whatever it is, it becomes problematic at the beginning.

You can learn something from my experiences. In the initial days I had to clean the entire cage and also floors because my rabbit had the habit to urinate almost everywhere. But since I have trained it (certainly by means of great patience and determination), nowadays I have to change the litter box only.

Do you know the reason why rabbits pee all around? It is a simple way of marking territory. You may think that rabbits are not territorial but in reality they are and can challenge any other animal in this respect. Keep in mind through urination a rabbit wants to indicate that it is its domain.

If your rabbit is a male, you can check the habit by neutering it. But apply this only if your rabbit is urinating for territorial purposes only. In addition, rabbits may litter due to several reasons. It can be due to the absence of enough litter boxes, medical problems or even behavioral.

If you have a female rabbit, you can control her by means of proper litter training or potty training. It takes some time but is well worth it. Lastly, you have to use positive reinforcement for the potty training of your rabbit. Place the litter box simply within the cage and slowly command it to use the box. As indicated by experts, it will understand everything within weeks. Even if there is any problem, have a discussion with any veterinarian.
