It is actually very vital to find a good vet for your rabbit because there are chances that it may fall ill or suffer from some other health problems. Remember that the vet, who was great with your dog, might not be good enough for your bunny and hence you should try to find a vet who knows his ways with rabbits. So you should start the search for the right vet via phone conversations and searching the web, so that you can decide if a particular vet is apt for your little bunny.

If you go to the vet and are greeted by the receptionist saying that they could see rabbits, then you know that you have come to the wrong place. Find out how many bunnies does the vet see on a regular basis. If they see one or two in a while then you should find another alternative. Also try to find out the price for spaying or neutering the rabbit because this would help you understand the frequency of the vet in dealing with rabbits. If the vet says that he or she has to check, then you know that your vet is not very familiar with bunnies.

To find the right vet for you bunny try to throw in tricky questions like if rabbits should fast before surgery. Fasting is suggested to prevent vomiting and since rabbits don’t vomit, you can judge the answer by the vet. Remember that not all livestock vet knows their rabbits because farm animals are not treated with the same affection as home rabbits. Also ask your regular vet for suggestions about finding a right vet for your rabbit. In most cases, vets help out and can help you find a better alternative for your bunny.
