Lots of studies are conducted on pets and the changing viewpoints of owners. Take for instance rabbits. Do you know even one or two decades back only a few persons used to have pet rabbits? But there has certainly been a sea change and more and more people are having pet rabbits these days. It is a good sign indeed and studies reveal among all affectionate animals rabbits are the most loved ones. Reason? Due to their intrinsic natures rabbits are most friendly, soft and attractive. What conclusion do you draw from here? You shall have to take accurate care of this animal if you are a rabbit owner.
Bear in mind that the main task is to take care of rabbits. In this regard the easiest way is to keep them clean, well fed with lots of clean water along with comfortable living conditions. However this is not all since rabbits may face dangers too. For that reason there is the need of close observation always. What should you do then? Your first and foremost duty is to keep the pet in shade on condition that the temperature rises above 80 degrees. Heat is the greatest enemy of rabbits and if it becomes too much the rabbit may start to feel impatience and the increasing temperature is highly dangerous for it. It can get ill if precautionary measures are not taken and this can be lethal too. Try to keep the rabbit in shade and as cool as possible.
On the other hand it is necessary to check the pet on a regular basis. If there is any illness, a rabbit’s behavior with regard to food habits and place of resting changes. A rabbit’s teeth never stop growing and hence it must be given anything (like apple tree twigs and rabbit toys even) for chewing. Besides a rabbit may encounter dental diseases. You have to make sure that teeth alignment is firmly maintained and that none of them are broken as well.
Be aware of diarrhea also as it is believed to be the first sign of serious illness. Rabbits at times do release chalky colored urine which is thick and sludgy and it can be the effects of kidney or stone problems. Your job is to take it to the veterinarian (expert on rabbits) without delay. Try to maintain a close relation with the doctor and consult with him in a regular manner.
