Care of pregnant rabbits is imperative

In the majority of families pregnancy of rabbit is exceedingly abhorrent since it entails lots of responsibilities. I do know that. But, if there are several rabbits in your house, there is a high chance of it and even if you consider there shall be no pregnancy, it is synonymous to a fantasy or flight of the imagination. This is not at all possible although the greater number of owners is found perplexed in this case. Beware of the fact that there is the need of greater care in this period. Even a vet may make mistakes in ascertaining the pregnancy, so be cautious from the very outset.

The rabbit population has already become excessive so no owner is encouraged to let its bunny get pregnant. However this hardly matters. Now the first question is how you can determine whether she is regnant or not. Bear in mind a doe can hide her pregnancy quite well. But don’t get flummoxed since there is an easy way. You can realize it by keeping an eye on her behavior. Have you ever noticed a change in its behavior? Normally a female pet rabbit rejects the advancement of the buck towards her during this period. On the other hand it is after almost two weeks after conceiving, you may get able to realize the foetus inside her womb. It feels marble-like.

In case of a female rabbit the gestation period remains between 28 to 31 days and in this period your task is to render her sufficient amount food and water. It may be that she begins her nesting process about one week before delivery. There are also instances when the rabbit starts preparing the nest only three days before delivery. How does a doe build the nest? This is quite interesting to learn. In general, she will build it by gathering hay and shredding newspaper and also by pulling fur from her own chest. A female rabbit can deliver 13 kits maximum. Do you know that often a doe abandons kits after birth? This is a part of its wild nature and only to save kits from the murderous animals.

But there is a distinct advantage. Rabbits do not take human touches at this time offensive. So you can surely check whether the baby is warm. If it is not warm, you can certainly wrap warm water bottle with towel and place in the nest. This is a good way of warming. If you have the habit of providing rabbit toys, leave it for the moment. Let her remain busy with the new born baby.
